How to Be An Excellent Student

In class on Friday, we talked about excellence.  Our assignment for this blog was to put a five-point plan on how I am going to be a successful and excellent student at John Carroll.

The first thing I'm going to do is to be organized.  I am going to write in my planner everyday.  When I was in middle school, I didn't write in it that much.  I thought I didn't need to, but at the end of the day, I would always ask someone what I needed.  Now that no none is in very single one of my classes like people were last year, I need to write in my planner.  I'm also going to put a locker shelf up soon to organize my books.

I'm also going to study more.  Also, in middle school, I didn't study that much because I thought I was smart enough to handle it.  Sometimes I knew the material really well.  Other times, I didn't and I would get bad grades on tests.  I knew studying was important, but I didn't think I needed it, but sometimes I did.  I need to realize that this is high school now and it's harder, so I need to study.

The third thing I'm going to do is make a lot of friends.  I know some people think that friends distract you in school, but I think it's the opposite.  If you are stuck on a homework problem and you have friends in the certain class, you can just call them and ask them to help.  I also feel like if you have more friends, you can have a little more fun in school.

Another thing I'm going to do is to eat a healthy breakfast in the morning.  A healthier breakfast will give you more energy to go out and succeed throughout your day. An unhealthy breakfast won't do anything for you.  You might even feel a little self conscience.  Some think that a doughnut will give you more energy than something healthier, but in reality, it will give you energy for about an hour.  After that hour, you'll be even more tired than when you first woke up.

Last but not least, I am going to get a good night's sleep.  I tried going to sleep at eleven p.m. on a school night and waking up at 6:30 in the morning in middle school and it was awful.  I was tired that whole day, which put me in a terrible mood, which put everyone else in a bad mood that was around me.  A good night's sleep can also help with metabolism, control stress, and helps you learn better.

All of these tips are important to become a successful student and I will be a successful and excellent student at John Carroll.
